I’ve been struggling for quite a while trying to balance my free time between time spent on dA, time spent on studying art theory/techniques, and time spent actually creating art. kuschelirmel (https://www.deviantart.com/kuschelirmel)’s recent article [link] really struck a nerve with me. I realized that I had lost sight of why I originally joined deviantART; to improve and grow as an artist and hopefully meet a few like-minded people that would eventually become friends. I’ve met more than a few like-minded people and I’ve made some pretty amazing friends. As for my art, it has shown improvement…but I still have a long way to go. So, after much though
I don't feel like thinking of an appropriate title
I can't finish anything I start. I've got at least 40 unfinished WIPs in a folder on my desktop and I just keep adding to it. I keep having epic fucking ideas, get anywhere from a quarter to halfway done, then stop because I just can't get it to look right. I've just spent 2 days trying to get a background right for one wip and now I'm so sick of looking at it that I doubt I'll finish at all. The wip before that I was trying to get the models eyes to look big, black, and bug-ish...haven't been able to get that right. I hate being so anal about shit. I'm so frustrated I'm ready to throw my laptop out the window and be done with art.

If i use charcoal i have seen some greats lay a base of charcoal then eraser to lift the charcoal to give the impression of hair...but i cant lift it, can you use chalk on charcoal or what methods are there to give those crisp higlights?? Loosing the plot
